COMMON QUESTIONS:

What is a Zipline Canopy Tour?

Exciting and Fun!  Imagine flying through the air and checking out the critters of the forest and the trees in a completely different perspective from that of the “common ground person”.  That’s right, a zip line canopy tour takes you on a close personal experience with nature.  After checking in, meeting your stellar one-of-a-kind guides, gearing up and completing final safety checks, you enter into the forest by zipping from tree to tree – high up in the tree canopy!  You will soar through the air effortlessly and you will never forget the beauty of Lake Lanier – as seen from above.

Are there any requirements or restrictions?

YES we have age and weight limits – ALL zippers will be required to step on a scale at check-in. If any zipper does not meet the age or weight requirements for their perspective tour, they will not be allowed to go on the tour and NO refunds or vouchers will be issued. These limits have been established by our tour designers/builders and our insurance company and they are not negotiable.

LLCT has designed the Express, Legacy, Legacy DELUXE, Legacy NIGHTS, Lakeside, Pine Isle REMIX, Pine Isle, and the Full Moon Zipping Tours to accommodate most participants; however, we do have a few qualifications. Please make sure each participant is at least 8 years old and weighs between 50 – 250 pounds for the Express, Legacy, Legacy DELUXE and Lakeside Tours. The Legacy NIGHTS and Full Moon Zipping Tour requires all participants to be at least 12 years old and 50 pounds (for the Legacy Tour), 70 pounds (for the Full Moon Zipping Tour) and not more than 250 pounds for any tour. Finally, the Pine Isle REMIX and the Pine Isle Tours require all flyers to weigh at least 70 pounds and be at least 10 years old.

Quick Summary of the above:

Express Tour – between 8 yrs. old and 108 years old and between 50 pounds and 250 pounds.

Legacy Tour – between 8 yrs. old and 108 years old and between 50 pounds and 250 pounds.

Legacy DELUXE Tour – between 8 yrs. old and 108 years old and between 50 pounds and 250 pounds.

Legacy NIGHTS – between 12 yrs. old and 108 years old and between 50 pounds and 250 pounds.

Lakeside Tour – between 8 yrs. old and 108 years old and between 50 pounds and 250 pounds.

Pine Isle REMIX Tour – between 10 yrs. old and 108 years old and between 70 pounds and 250 pounds.

Full Moon Zipping – between 12 yrs. old and 108 years old and between 70 pounds and 250 pounds.

Participants are required to wear closed-toed shoes and must be in reasonably good health (mobility required).  Participants who are pregnant past their first trimester are not allowed on the tour.  Participants who are impaired by either alcohol or any legal or illegal drug will not be allowed on the tour and WILL NOT receive a refund or voucher.  Participants will be required to help control their speed by grabbing the zip line cable with a gloved hand and may be required to pull themselves a short distance on the cable if they happen to stop short of a platform.  If you are not sure you qualify, please don’t hesitate to call us (770-828-7654)  (678-622-3990) or send us an email (info@lakelaniercanopytours.com) and we will let you know.

How safe is a zipline canopy tour?

How safe is driving down the highway in your car?  Of course there are inherent risk involved, you are soaring through the air on a zip line cable.  Things can happen.  However, at LLCT, we take the responsibility of keeping our guides and participants safe with the utmost level of care and respect.  Any LLCT course has been, and always will be, designed and built to meet and in most cases exceed the professional standards set by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (www.acctinfo.org) and no guide will ever lead a tour without the proper training.  We practice scenarios often and all of our guides continually watch for potential mishaps, so they can prevent any potential mishap before it happens.  At minimum, every piece of gear and equipment used on the tour will hold at least 5,000 pounds and most the gear and equipment exceeds the 5,000-pound capacity.  So, eat up before you come and ride with LLCT!

Our guides are also facilitators and care not only about your physical safety, but also your emotional safety.  So, for those of you that may be struggling a bit with trusting the gear or yourselves, our guides will work with you during your tour to help you OVERCOME!  You can do this!!

It’s my Birthday – does LLCT have a present for me?

Happy Birthday from us to you.  We hope it is your BEST yet.  YES we do have something for you. Check out our zipping LLCT Birthday PDF here! We are excited about you wanting to spend it with us and we have a special offer for you.  Woohoo!

What forms of payment does LLCT accept?

Hugs, smiles and words of affirmation….ok, while these are definitely welcome, they are not going to pay the bills – so, read below for the rules.

We do not accept checks.  We do accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express Cards.  We also accept cash.  For phone or online reservations, payment in full is due at the time the reservation is made.  For walk-ups, payment in full is due at the time you sign up for your tour.

What if I’ve never done a canopy tour before?

GREAT!!  Don’t worry about it.  There are MANY things we have never done before and if we never step out and try something new – they will always be things we have never done versus things we tried and loved!

LLCT Guides have been trained to help new zippers feel at ease.  Just follow your Guide’s directions and you will do great.  Most likely, you are not alone!  There very well may be others in your group who have never zipped before.

Where is Lake Lanier Canopy Tours located?

Lake Lanier Canopy Tours is located in Lanier Islands Resort. Click here for directions.

Why do I have to pay the $10.00 entrance fee to Lake Lanier Islands Resort?

Lake Lanier Canopy Tours (LLCT) is privately held and operates in partnership with Lake Lanier Islands Resort.  However, LLCT cannot influence Lake Lanier Islands Resort or waive the fees associated with coming onto the Islands.  So, you might as well make the most of your day – click here to see what else is available during your visit to the resort.

Do I have to sign a Release Form / Hold Harmless Waiver?

YES!

You can download it here or we also have copies available when you check in.  If you are under 18 year old and not accompanied by your legal guardian or parent, you must bring a signed copy with you the day of your tour.  All minors, who do not have a signed Release Form with them the day of their tour, will not be allowed to go on the tour and no refunds or vouchers will be given.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable and easy to move around in – women, please do not wear skirts or dresses – pants work best!  Closed-toed shoes are required.  If it is hot weather and shorts are your choice for the day, make sure they are long enough so your harness leg straps don’t rub on your body.  If you have long hair, make sure you pull it back and if you wear glasses – make sure you secure them with a strap.

Try and keep your pockets free of any sharp objects and if you choose to bring a camera, make sure it has a strap that can cinch around your wrist.

Help us help you – if you show up for your tour and you have not complied with the above guidelines, you may not be allowed to go on your tour until you comply.  Thank you for understanding this is not about our desire to force you to do anything ridiculous, but rather our attempt to keep you and your stuff safe while you are on your tour.

Do you operate in the rain and in the cold?

There is no such thing as bad weather – just bad clothing.

Yes we run tours in the rain and cold!  However, if we have not started your tour and weather or unsafe course conditions (i.e. newly fallen trees, lightning) causes Lake Lanier Canopy Tours to cancel your tour, you will be refunded your investment fully or you may reschedule your tour for another date at no expense to you.  LLCT will not operate if it is lighting – we adhere to the protocols published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.  LLCT will operate if it is cold.  DRESS FOR THE WEATHER! LLCT does not have any clothing or rain gear to lend out to participants.

Now, to break it down even more…if your tour is in progress and bad weather conditions force us to stop zipping, then your stellar guides will decide the best and most efficient exit from the tour.  There are multiple options for exiting the tour; how your group exits the tour depends on your specific location at the time the decision to exit the tour has been made.

If your group completed 75% or more of the tour, then your tour will be over on this day and you will be offered a 25% discount for any of our other tours on another day.  If your group has completed less than 75% of your tour, then once all participants have safely exited the tour and made their way to shelter, all tours will ‘wait out the weather’ and then restart the tour!  It’s like getting an ice cream cone with 3 scoops, eating 2 of the scoops, dropping the last one on the ground and then getting another ice cream cone with 3 scoops for free!

If course availability does not allow for the masses to all get back on the tour once the weather clears, then discounts will be given based off of where each tour group was when they exited the tour.

But please refer to the photo to remind you of the original question “Do you zip in the rain?”

Zipping in the rain and loving it!

Yes, we zip in the rain!

Will I be in a group with my friends/family?

We can have a max of 8 participants per tour group – we prefer a max of 8, but will accommodate 10 if needed.  So, if you have less than 10, you might have others in your group you do not know.  Don’t worry about it though, you will know them well by the end of the tour…you might even end up as Facebook friends! This is true for the Express, Legacy, Legacy DELUXE and Lakeside Tours – the Pine Isle REMIX and the Pine Isle Tour have a max of 8 participants per tour and the Legacy NIGHTS and the Full Moon Zipping Tour, also max out at 8 participants – although 6 is preferred for all night tours.

What if I change my mind once I see the tour?

If you change your mind upon seeing the tour, Lake Lanier Canopy Tours will offer you another chance on a different day!  This offer will be valid for one year from your original tour date and is fully transferable.  We want you to overcome your hesitation; however, if this is not going to happen – we want you to donate or sell your spot to a friend.

When do I need to arrive for my tour?

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time.  This will allow enough time to check in, use the restroom, step on the scale to be weighed, meet your guides, get your equipment on and prepare for your tour.  Late participants may not be able to join their group and NO refunds or vouchers will be issued for late or no show participants.  See our Cancellation Policy for additional details.

Are reservations required?

YES!  We can not promise anything will be available if you walk up—tours will fill up fast.  If there is space on a tour, tours are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis during our hours of operation.  Click here to book your tour now!

What if I’m late for my canopy tour?

First of all, call us and let us know (770) 828-7654 or (678) 622-3990.  NO refunds or vouchers are given for late arrivals.  If you arrive late and we have to start your tour without you, we’ll make every effort to put you on a later tour. We ask you to arrive 30 minutes prior to your reserved tour time to allow for check-in and tour preparation.

Will an LLCT Guide accept tips?

Does a bear poop in the woods?  Yes is the answer.  If you choose to tip, the service industry standard of 15% – 20% per person is the guideline for good service – or more if you had great service!  Feel free to give your tip directly to either of your guides – each guide team splits any tip received 50% / 50%.

Cancellation Considerations

Lake Lanier Canopy Tours works hard to ensure you have an amazing eco-adventure experience when you visit us.  Once you make your reservation, we react by scheduling guides and other logistical staff, so that your day on the canopy tour is one you will never forget!  If you don’t show up or if you cancel your tour last minute, we still have the same expenses and there is a great chance we turned others away because we were holding the spots for you.  Therefore, if you cancel your reservation inside of 7 days of your tour start time, you will be charged the full price for your tour.  This charge amount is for the number of participants or slots we were holding for you or your group.  If you cancel your reservation outside of 7 days from the start time of your tour, you will be refunded your reservation fee, minus a $20.00 per person charge. Just as a teaser, who would want to cancel this?

Each reservation is allowed one change in departure time or date (based on availability) with no penalty.  This only refers to reservations outside the 7-day mark.  If you need to make a change to the time or date and your tour departure time is within a week, there are no guarantees Lake Lanier Canopy Tours can accommodate this request.  The request may be viewed as a cancellation.

Will I really have to step on a scale when I check-in??

Yep!  Only our office staff member will check or see your weight.  Our tour weight limits are for your and our guides safety and have been established by our builders/tour designers and our insurance company.  If you do not meet the minimum weight limit (50 pounds for Legacy and Lakeside Tours and 70 pounds for the Pine Isle Tour) or you exceed the max weight limit (250 lbs. for all tours), you will not be allowed on the tour and you will not be issued a refund or a voucher.  Please understand this is not negotiable.
